We have been made a spectacle to the whole universe, to angels as well as to men (1 Cor. 4:9b, NIV).
God can make you a spectacle to the whole universe, a show of His glory to all creation.
There are people in the Scriptures that God chose for some particular purpose, negatively or positively, that the whole creation may see the awesomeness of His power.
Example 1: God spoke of Pharaoh that He particularly chose him to make His awesome power known to the universe. In pharaoh God demonstrated that all power belongs to Him.
Judas Iscariot: God chose him to accomplish a particular purpose of betraying Christ, that the plan and purpose of God may be accomplished. In Judas God was demonstrating the awful consequence of unfaithfulness, disloyalty and betrayal in a follower. The rebellious dwell in a dry place.
Lucifer: God created him and gave him great power knowing that Lucifer was going to turn against Him and His eternal agenda. In Lucifer God is demonstrating clearly that there is no wisdom, nor knowledge, nor counsel against God.
Enough of the negative.
When God chose Abraham, a Syrian ready to perish, and changed him to become a father of many nations by whom all families of the earth shall be blessed, God was demonstrating His ability to raise and use anyone who will dare to believe Him and His word.
When God chose Mary to be the mother of the Messiah, He was showing the world the place of humility, purity and simplicity of faith and that He can make an eternal spectacle of anyone who will follow Him in this manner. When God chose Saul of Tarsus, a virulent persecutor of the way, and transformed him to become a passionate apostle of the way, He was showing the whole world that there is no one that He cannot transform.
Do not give up on yourself. You may be as old as Abraham, or as barren as he was: God can still make you a father of many nations, with descendants as innumerable as the sand by the sea shore (Heb. 11:12).
You may be a young, simple peasant girl like Mary: if you will follow God in purity, simplicity and sincerity of faith, He can cause something great to be birthed by you that the universe will celebrate forever.
You may be another Saul of Tarsus - violent, radical, and non-conformist. There is a place for you in the plan of God if only you will say "Yes Lord," and be obedient to the heavenly vision.
I hope you find it in your heart to believe this word of the Lord: He will make you a glorious spectacle of honour to the whole word. Just believe. All things are possible.
