WORK HARD WITH YOUR HANDS

We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it (1 Cor. 4:12, NIV).

One distinguishing mark of Apostles of Christ: they worked hard with their own hands. Whether Peter, or Paul or John or James they were diligent in their assignment. I have had to relate with a couple of true apostles of Christ in contemporary time. This same mark is there: driven by a passion for souls, a consuming desire to please the Lord and a gnawing realization that they are examples to the church of Christ, they work really hard. I have not met a true apostle of Christ who is not exceptionally diligent. They all follow the example of Christ their Saviour, working hard like their Father in heaven (John 5:17).

I want to urge you today; cultivate a lifestyle of diligence. Cast away sloth and insolence. Idleness and drowsiness should never be allowed near you. Like God your Father, like Christ your Saviour and like the apostles of Christ who are your spiritual fathers, be very diligent and productive. Work hard with your hands.

 Amongst other things, this will

  1. Make you lead a productive life.

  2. Make you self-sufficient, not depending on anyone before you eat.

  3. Make you prosperous and rich.

  4. Make you a blessing to the work of God.

  5. Make you a blessing to other people.

  6. Make God to trust you with specific divine assignment.

  7. Make you a positive example to the body of Christ.

What is your job? What is your business? What is your life goal? What is your kingdom assignment? Work hard with your hand and you will find yourself at the top of the ladder of success.

The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute (Prov. 12:24).
