Even though you have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel (1 Cor. 4:15-16, NIV).
When you preached the gospel of Christ to someone, and the person becomes truly born again, you have become a father in the faith to the one you have just led to Christ. When your children that you birthed in the gospel are adequately followed up, and they abide in the kingdom of God, your reward before the throne of God shall be great.
When our Lord Jesus gave us the command to "go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." He has given us a great opportunity to become a father in the faith.
You can father an individual (Acts 8:35-40).
You can father a household (Acts 10:33).
You can father a city (Proverbs 11:11, Acts 8:4-8).
You can father a nation (1 Samuel 4:1).
You can father nations of the world (Psalm 2:8, Genesis 17:1-7).
There is nothing in the world that can save a soul from sin other than the gospel of Christ. It is the power of God unto the salvation of anyone who believes. It can change a soul, a family, a city, a nation. It can change the whole world (Romans 1:16).
However, powerful as the gospel is, it is effective only when it is preached. This is why we must preach the gospel of Christ.
Jesus said "This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations," we must preach the gospel.
Paul said, "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ." Woe is unto me if I preach not the gospel," (Romans 1:16, 1 Cor. 9:16). We must preach the gospel of Christ.
Peter said "Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). We must preach the gospel of Christ. John the beloved said, "That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us, and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ" (1 John 1:3). We must preach the gospel of Christ.
How are you going to get involved in preaching the gospel of Christ? By one-to-one witnessing. Through your writing ministry? Through the internet? By joining the evangelism team in your church? Find your owns unique way of preaching the gospel of Christ. God will bless your labour. People will be saved, and you too will be become a spiritual parent of someone who is going to heaven because you preached the gospel of Christ.
The word of our Lord Jesus is worthy of endless repetition until everyone has heard the gospel news of His saving grace.
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15).
